It’s a gorgeous spring day in the Gypsy Grove and I’m flipping through the pages of my Creation Book. Being Magical in nature, my Creation Book had an infinite number of pages that will continue to grow throughout my life. Because of this, I archive my concepts regularly on pages that vanish from the list of current content but that can be accessed via a short spell.
Today, I am perusing things I created on another spring day while I was still in school in Cratersville. It’s surprising to me that, though I am living an entirely different Realm now, the sentiments I hold in my heart and soul are still very much the same—perhaps even more.
I guess it’s to be expected. Though I was born to a Traveler mother, I wasn’t living the life of one until I arrived in the Creators Realm. It’s the Travelers dedication to their way of life that creates the Enchantment that makes the clockwork worlds both inside and outside of the Creators Realm habitable.
In other words, they keep things real—no matter how fantastical the designs and concepts the Creators come up with.
This gets tricky at times, especially when the Creators—and the Patrons who support them—go too far with things. This is why the Travelers are also responsible for seeing to it that the Bards arise when things get too out of whack.
Now, you might be inclined to think that being Bard is a great gig. It is—to an extent. But, it’s not all sunshine and lollipops. It’s amazing how many people really don’t like us—not that most people know who we are. But, being Bard is a lot like being an uninvited guest to a party. We want to change things and that makes most people deeply unhappy.
You might be wondering why I’m telling you all of this. Well, it’s because the Bards can’t do all their “re-scripting the realm” stuff alone. We need help. We need the help of the creatures we create. We need the encouragement of those we hang around. Most of all, we need the help of evangelists who truly believe that sometimes it’s best to stop bickering and start working together to get things done.
To this end, I present you with a nifty set of designs I drew during the last year of high school—along with some timely words—to drive the point home:
